This is for my grandson who overcame obstacles. Two years ago at age 9 he received 3 concussions playing football & had to stop playing. On top of that he had to be home schooled, as the thoughts in his brain and things he was saying were mixed up. It has taken 2 years to recover, but he has and stayed up on his school work. Next fall he gets to go back to public school and he is very excited. He is playing baseball now and is very good. The coaches like him and he has become a leader. This spring he hit his first over the fence home run and I am very proud of him. He has worked really hard to be one of the guys again.
Living with the affects of a concussion and deciding what sports are appropriate for our kids have been very important topics of concern. As we learn more about the long term medical issues regarding head injuries, it's definitely a lot to consider for those who care for kids who love sports of any kind.
